GLF 2018
This year, Greenacres' Learning Festival 2018, brought together both parents and teachers alike for a fun-filled day of: workshops and lessons – all organised and delivered by the most important people of Greenacres... the children!
After weeks and weeks of preparation, Greenacres’ parents flocked to the marquee and heard from key note speakers including our Head Boy and Head Girl and were met by our Year 6 GLF Guides – who distributed individual itineraries, advertised each workshop, led groups of adults to their chosen activities and acted as GLF supervisors.
Parents were taught a range of new skills by our pupil teachers! Nursery took their parents back to a land before time, where they created dinosaur headdresses, dug for fossils and even created their own out of clay!
Reception amazed with their extensive knowledge on health and safety procedures, including what to do in an event of an emergency.
Year 1 taught all about animals and even took parents on their very own safari; Year 2, having learnt all about aboriginal art, handed the paintbrushes over to their parents… Children from Year 3 put on their Roman costumes and delivered an engaging history lesson; Year 4 showed their parents how to grow their own chilies and create their own spicy recipes; and Year 5 took their parents through vigorous astronaut training, where they were even able to try special astronaut food! (Yum)
Throughout the day, the children also attended a street dance workshop, participating in a choreographed routine and even busted out moves of their own in the showcase circle. We’re pretty sure we’ll be doing ‘the floss’ all week!
