Maths
At Greenacres, we teach mathematics using the White Rose Maths approach, which focuses on developing a deep and secure understanding of key concepts for all pupils. Lessons are carefully structured into small, progressive steps so that children can build on what they already know and move forward with confidence.
We use a combination of practical resources, visual representations, and abstract methods to support learning, helping pupils to fully understand the mathematics rather than simply memorising procedures.

Alongside this, we place a strong emphasis on reasoning, problem-solving, and mathematical discussion, encouraging children to explain their thinking and apply their knowledge in a range of contexts.
We compliment the use of White Rose Maths with the use IXL, in KS2, to support and enhance pupils’ learning in maths. IXL provides a personalised learning experience, allowing our children to practise skills at their own pace while building confidence and fluency.

The platform offers immediate feedback and guidance, helping pupils to learn from their mistakes and deepen their understanding.
Teachers are able to track progress closely, identify gaps in knowledge, and tailor support to meet individual needs. By integrating IXL into our teaching, we ensure that all pupils have the opportunity to consolidate their learning and achieve their full potential.
